“When, the learned see that their learning contributes to make the world happy, they are pleased and pursue their learning more”.
Coimbatore of 80’s longed for quality Educational institutions for the poor from rural background. It was at this time that Late Shri D. Varadarajan, a noted industrialist from the lineage of noteworthy visionaries and educationists, keenly desired to establish Smt. D. Padmavathi Ammal High School under the parasol of Shri G.V. Doraiswamy Naidu Charities in Coimbatore which had been named after his father Shri G.V.Doraiswamy Naidu, founder of Sri Varadaraja Textiles Coimbatore, popularly known as GVD.
He had been the head of numerous boards and bodies of Textile Management throughout his life. He was a pious person and his contribution to develop temples was exemplary and a special mention to Sri Karivaradaraja Perumal Temple, Peelamedu.
Shri G.V.Doraiswamy Naidu holds the distinguished privilege of being the very first person from Coimbatore to have got educated from Bolton, UK in Textile Technology.
The school bears the name of Smt. D. Padmavathi Ammal, who was the daughter of Late Shri K.K.Naidu, the noteworthy visionary who had revolutionized the Textile Technology in Coimbatore and the wife of Shri G.V.Doraiswamy Naidu who had inherited the noble quality to serve the poor from the rural society. She had extended numerous scholarships to the chosen bright students of many educational institutions in Graduate, Post Graduate and Research Programme.
One would admire the splendid progress made by this institution under the present Correspondent and Secretary Smt.V.Krishnaveni, wife of Late Shri D.Varadarajan. The magnificent campus of the school that we see today speaks volumes of the dedicated and selfless service of the Management, staff, students, parents and well-wishers of this illustrious institution for the past three decades.
